Kanye’s Lawyers Finally Managed To Track Him Down To Deliver Termination Documents

After being unable to track the rapper for weeks, Kanye West’s New York City legal firm was able to effectively deliver the artist with papers to terminate their relationship. According to AllHipHop, recent court papers submitted by Greenberg Traurig, LLP indicate that the law firm effectively severed its links with Kanye as of Wednesday (February 1). The agency initially asked to do so on November 30 of the previous year.

Advocate Nina D. Boyajian said in the latest statement that, with some assistance from Ye’s new lawyer, their firm was able to arrange for a personal serving of the documents. She stated in the court records, “On January 18, 2023, a California-based lawyer called my agency and advised that he’d be advising ‘Ye on some of his liability issues’.” I asked this lawyer to arrange for personal delivery of the Order on Ye over the course of numerous emails and a conference call.

“The approved Certification of Serve attached hereto as Exhibit A was sent to me by the lawyer referred to above on February 1, 2023,” Boyajian added. I confirm that the information above is correct and true under penalties of perjury as defined by American law. Kanye West was supposed to get documentation terminating their employment arrangement last month, but Greenberg Traurig stated they couldn’t find him. The company even proceeded to ask the authorities to accept a formal declaration in local Los Angeles newspapers as an adequate warning to the artist in question.

As reported earlier by insiders, Greenberg Traurig published two advertisements in newspapers to formally end its relationship with Kanye. A “multi-pronged strategy” was used to inform him that the agency could no longer count on him as a clientele due to the judge’s ruling. Ye will also be made aware of the Withdrawal Notice, the legal document states, “through posting of the Withdrawal Order’s terms in several Los Angeles-area publications, where West appears to live.”

Nevertheless, U.S. District Magistrate Analisa Torres rejected the motion to formally end the relationship on the basis that she was unsure Nina D. Boyajian and her associates had taken all reasonable steps to get in touch with the ex-client. In his lawsuit with Ultra International Music Publishing (UIMP) for the improper use of a Donda 2 track, Kanye was represented by Greenberg Traurig.

According to a case lodged in the U.S. District Court in New York in June of last year, Marshall Jefferson’s 1986 Chicago house hit “Move Your Body” was copied without the required authorization or payment in Kanye’s song “Flowers.” Jefferson’s music is published by Ultra International Music Publishing. Ye admitted in the lawsuit that he borrowed “Move Your Body” without permission, but he “remains to deliberately infringe in obvious contempt of UIMP’s ownership rights,” according to the lawsuit.

Kanye has been relatively absent from the public eye since the beginning of 2023, so Greenberg Traurig isn’t the only company that has had difficulty finding him in recent weeks. Thomas St. John, the controversial rapper’s former business manager, has also been unsuccessful in getting in touch with him since recently accusing him of contract violation. St. John says that his working relationship with West started in March 2022, when the musician hired him to run his company and serve as the Donda brand’s lead marketer in exchange for a $300,000 monthly contract.
