Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40K Role in Jeopardy?

When it was reported that Henry Cavill would appear in a Warhammer 40K series on Amazon Prime, fans went crazy, especially those who love the world of Warhammer and waiting for the movie. The news was released following Warner Bros.’s shocking revelation that he will not be playing Superman again, and his departure from Netflix’s The Witcher under somewhat of a mystery.

Given that Cavill is a well-known board game enthusiast and has visited the Games Workshop headquarters to witness how the magic is created, a lead part in a Warhammer television series sounds like his perfect outcome. However, a recent analysis suggests that we all have overstretched our joy.

According to Business Live, Games Workshop denies having a formal agreement to produce the series with Amazon. The firm reported pre-tax profits of £83.6 million in November 2022, lower from $88.2 million for the same time in the previous year. Investment director Russ Mould accepts that Games Workshop could benefit from the money but points out that the actual terms of their relationship with Amazon have not yet been agreed on.

Russ Mould states, “A negotiated settlement hasn’t been finalized or signed yet, and even if it is, it might be years even before TV or movie projects are released or royalties are paid to Games Workshop.” Let’s hope both corporations sign off on the agreement as quickly as possible, mainly because we don’t think we can handle even more terrible news for Henry Cavill.

We’re betting this is just a technicality rather than a warning that Amazon’s Warhammer 40K is at risk of being scrapped before it ever starts. 2022 has been a brutal year for the former Superman Henry Cavill. Henry Cavill has recently stepped down from his position as Geralt of Rivia, the main character in Netflix’s The Witcher series, intending to play Superman once more in the Dceu. This news was made in October during the post-credits sequence of Black Adam, which featured triumphant fan screaming.

When James Gunn was appointed CEO of DC Studios a short while later, everything was turned upside down. With this new role, Gunn immediately got to work and started over, basically erasing all of the characters that audiences had grown to care for over the previous ten years, including Henry as Superman.

So what comes next?

It would appear that he likes to move quickly because his next venture is already scheduled: a New adaptation of the legendary board game Warhammer 40,000, supported by Amazon.

Few things can mitigate the disappointment of passing up the opportunity to play Superman a second time. But for Henry Cavill, being able to lead the development of a rendition of one of his favorite books must offer some consolation. Furthermore, it is hoped that his experience working on The Witcher will be useful when this series debuts.

The genuine concern lies with the involvement of the Games Workshop. While many criticisms are merely resentment on the part of the fans, Games Workshop’s engagement with the fanbase is tenser. The biggest problem relevant to the Warhammer 40k series is Games Workshop’s “zero tolerance” policy on fan films, animated or otherwise.

Extremely popular creators on YouTube and elsewhere helped Warhammer find new audiences, only for their content to quietly disappear or go behind the company’s paywall at the Warhammer TV site. However, the company’s best asset is Henry Cavill, who is here with something to prove. From his take on Superman to the show’s take on Geralt, Cavill is armed with what he needs to help the Warhammer 40K series avoid the same missteps.

If Amazon and Game Workshop seal the deal, the only question the fans will have is what role Henry Cavill will play in the series. Warhammer 40k has a rich lore filled with a lot of significant characters.

Let’s take a look at some major characters that Cavill could play

The Emperor

For a very long time, many people have advocated for this decision. And yes, Cavill would undoubtedly do a fantastic job in this role. But there’s just one serious problem. The Emperor takes no action. He merely reclines on the throne in 40K. He might have visions.

However, Cavill wouldn’t be able to do much with the part. The Emperor doesn’t see a great deal of action or even many scenes in 30K. This might work if Cavill is seeking more of a cameo part and doesn’t want to be heavily involved. However, the Emperor of Mankind does not play a prominent role in any significant 40K series.

Constantin Valdor

During a Witcher interview, Henry Cavill suggested this part of this character might be ideal for him. Valdor is more active than the Emperor and does a lot of things. However, much of what he accomplished has never been documented, leaving you plenty of room to invent fresh tales about The Emperor’s Spear.

Additionally, it enables Cavill to take on any significant role he desires, tailoring how you perceive Valdor to Cavill’s preferences. It also makes sense because Valdor, a superhuman mutant with heightened abilities, tends to look down on others and is annoyed by their flaws. I doubt Cavill can pull that off based on his previous performances.

Gaunt

Commissar Gaunt is another famous character in the Warhammer universe. This will be a very role and will help Cavill carry the show on his back. Additionally, they have a ton of material to work with because Gaunt is complicated, and there are numerous stories to retell, allowing the showrunners to continue the storyline for a long time.

Gaunt also represents the most humanistic of the characters Cavill might play in the 40K universe. He’s only a human trying his best, neither a wizard nor a superhuman.

Guilliman

Cavill, though, cannot go wrong with Guilliman. There are numerous stories surrounding the character, and he is a major figure in the 40K universe. Additionally, he would allow Cavill some latitude because the primarch can be either the central character in a novel or, if he prefers, a minor one.

Guilliman might play a more secondary role in a Dawn of Fire show or serve as the star of a Dark Imperium show. Either would focus on the main plot of the series. He could potentially play the Primarch in a significant role in a 30K show.
