Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck decided to get married in Las Vegas back in July before they decided to have a lavish wedding in Savannah the following month. According to her, she did this because of PTSD that was triggered because the cancellation of their dream wedding 20 years before. The 53-year-old actress discussed her life’s journey with Ben Affleck on Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.
She said that “stress” was the driving force for their last-minute decision to marry, and she admitted that Affleck arranged the rushed Vegas wedding in only a few hours. Lopez stated in the interview, ” It was pretty stressful for me. We were supposed to get married in August and we decided we will be doing it in Savannah. All of our friends and families were going to be there. We were planning the same dream wedding 20 years back, but it didn’t work out in the end. That is what got into my head and I had a little PTSD episode. I said to myself, is this really happening?”

Lopez felt that the wedding was extremely stressful. Affleck intervened when Lopez seemed dejected following a wedding planning session where an unnamed individual suggested that the couple get married elsewhere rather than at their Georgia home.
Lopez remembered Affleck saying, ” F it, we are doing this tonight. We are going to Vegas. “Lopez didn’t think it would work because she had a rehearsal that day. He encouraged her to get on with her day, and he would take care of everything.
Regarding their A Little White Wedding Chapel ceremony, she remembers him saying, “‘When you come back here, I’ll have everything put up.” “Let’s do this. We are going to do it tonight, and so we did. The wedding was incredible and perphase the best night of my life.”
Affleck’s three children with Jennifer Garner were present, according to Lopez, but her two kids with Marc Anthony were there as “their witnesses.” Jennifer mentioned visiting the county clerk’s office just before midnight in order to get the marriage license.
Other newlywed couples were there too and were very shocked to see the power couple getting married like that. She also mentioned that an Elvis imitator tried to get them married, but she declined. She wanted to get married officially and wanted someone who could get them legally married. Jennifer wrote a song about her wedding titled ” Midnight Trip to Vegas” for her new album. When discussing their breakup in 2003, Lopez said in November that she “genuinely felt like she was going to die” from her pain. I went on a spiral where I couldn’t get it right for the following 18 years. However, it does have a happy ending now, 20 years later.
A month after their elopement, Lopez mentioned that “the whole family” attended their larger Savannah wedding. She didn’t mention whether or not Casey Affleck, Ben’s brother, attended the wedding. The couple was initially supposed to get married in 2003 but postponed plans, so the ceremony was hosted at Ben’s home.
She also revealed to Kimmel that she had to replace the iconic $2.5 million pink diamond Ben got her when he proposed to her for the first time in 2002 with an emerald engagement ring. She said that she had come to love their cute nickname, “Bennifer,” adding that it was used to make fun of them when they first started dating.
The couple was in a relationship for the first two years, but they ultimately broke up in 2004. Both Lopez and Affleck moved on to new relationships and began families after their separation. Lopez and Marc Anthony had twin daughters, Max and Emme, during their six-year marriage, which lasted until 2014.
Affleck and Jennifer Garner had three children together, a son named Samuel and daughters Violet and Seraphina, during their nine-year marriage, which lasted from 2005 to 2018.
